The detector combines smoke and temperature detection to provide (depending on the mode of use) exceptional sensitivity capable of detecting any type of fire (critical fires such as flammable liquid fires with little smoke emission) or very high rejection of false alarms.

The operating mode can be set directly from the control unit by choosing between the following:

• “PLUS” mode (factory reset): the detector sounds an alarm if the smoke threshold is exceeded (settable as with the ED100) or if the temperature threshold is exceeded (settable as with the ED200). Furthermore, if the temperature rises, the smoke detection sensitivity is increased to maximum. This operating mode, characterized by extremely high sensitivity, allows even the most critical fire sources to be detected (e.g., combustion of alcohol or similar liquids).
• “OR” mode: the detector signals an alarm if the smoke threshold is exceeded (settable as for the ED100) or if the temperature threshold is exceeded (settable as for the ED200). This operating mode, characterized by a reasonable sensitivity, allows the detection of both fires with smoke emission and little heat (e.g., smoldering fires) and fires with low smoke emission and high heat generation (e.g., chemical fires).
• "AND" mode: the detector only sounds an alarm if both the smoke and temperature thresholds are exceeded simultaneously (adjustable as for the ED100 and ED200). This operating mode, characterized by low sensitivity, minimizes the incidence of false alarms. Given the low reactivity of this operating mode, the conditions must be carefully evaluated before using it.
• “SMOKE” mode: the detector behaves like an ED100.
• “TEMPERATURE” mode: the detector behaves like an ED200.
